Technical Preservative and Fixative for Specific Formulations
Formalin is an aqueous solution of formaldehyde stabilized with methanol, used in certain cosmetic and pharmaceutical processes as a fixative or preservative (regulated use depending on region).
It contains 37–40% formaldehyde and complies with Ph. Eur. and USP standards. Colorless with a strong odor, it is effective against bacteria, yeasts, and molds.
The product must be handled with caution in ventilated environments, in compliance with local regulations (strict use limitations in cosmetics within the EU).
